WE ARE THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE descended from the Hunqum'I'num-speaking people of the Coast Salish Tribe. We gained our livelihood from the lands and waters of the geographical areas now known as Greater Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Our main village is located at the mouth of the Fraser River, one
of Canada's most important salmon-producing systems of the Northwest Coast. Musqueam culture is intimately tied to the lands and waters within our traditional territory. We continue to maintain a viable culture and hold a special relationship to the land in the heart of a modern city.

Our people are bound together by our common history, the language of our ancestors, and complex ceremonial and cultural traditions. We draw strength from the spiritual teachings of the Elders and our strong family connections.

Today the Muxqui grass flourishes. The Musqueam population is also rapidly expanding and consists of more than 1,000 Band members. We persevere in efforts to control, determine and guarantee the future for our descendants.
