Ms. Denise Turner, Finance

After many years in the financial services sector, Denise Turner was a successful entrepreneur and business executive with broad experience in finance, strategy, deal structure and contract negotiations, and business operations in both publicly traded and privately owned commercial real estate investment, development and property management companies in Canada and the United States.

As an Institute Certified Director, Turner also has extensive board experience. She is the current Board Chair of the Provincial Crown Corporation - Community Living BC; and serves on several other boards including that of Surrey City Development Corp., Discovery Parks, Musqueam Capital Corporation, the Vancouver Board of Trade, and the Child and Family Research Institute. Previously, Turner has served on numerous other boards of directors including Vice Chair of the Board of the BC Provincial Health Services Authority; Board Chair of YWCA Metro Vancouver; Board Chair of Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland; and Vice Chair of the BC Aviation Council.

Turner now brings together her extensive business and board experiences which span a variety of sectors to provide organizations with comprehensive project leadership for organizational strategic initiatives; sophisticated executive services on an interim or time-limited basis; and insightful governance advisory and coaching services.

As a passionate advocate of good governance, Turner has spoken on behalf of organizations such as the Pacific Business and Law Institute, the Institute of Corporate Directors, and the Sauder School of Business. She is also a recipient of HRH Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee Award for outstanding service to British Columbia and to Canada.

 

 

Mr. Mike Harcourt, Government Enterprise

As a former premier of British Columbia, mayor of Vancouver and city councilor, Mike Harcourt helped British Columbia earn its reputation as one of the most livable places in the world. His focus on conservation and sustainable development - and his resolve to contribute to the transformation of cities and communities around the world - has played a significant role in promoting quality of life for those in Canada and abroad.

 

Mr. Bob Standerwick, Business Management

Robert Standerwick was born and raised in Vancouver. He graduated from UBC with a BA and an LLB. Bob has been a lawyer for more than 30 years and has been a partner in a national firm. He recently set up his own firm. He has been active in a number of community organizations and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the West Point Grey Academy since 1999 and its Chair since 2000. He has been a Director of PALS Autism School since 2007.

June’s primary field of practice is Canadian corporate financials and taxation. She is a CPA,CGA from British Columbia as well as a CPA from the state of Maine. She is experienced in various computerized accounting software and accounting standards such as ASPE and IFRS. She is a fast learner, meticulous and well-rounded in all aspects of accounting.

I was born and raised on the Musqueam Reserve. I am the mother of 2 wonderful children. I have been common law married for 18 years to my husband Kris. My parents are Hank and Jewel Thomas (nee Jerome). My Mom’s father was Joseph Jerome from Port Simpson from the Wolf clan Tsimshian Nation and her mother Edith Jerome was from Tzeachten First Nation. My Dad’s Father Henry Thomas who they called old Hank is also from Musqueam Nation and his Mother Florence Dick from Port Alberni from Tseshaht First Nation.

I come to Musqueam Capital Corporation with years of valuable work experience.
