As of the afternoon of August 24, 2021 , there are 11 Musqueam community members who recently tested positive for COVID-19. Most individuals are children under the age of 12 who are ineligible for the vaccination. All positive cases are in isolation.
We have taken swift action to contact individuals who may have come into contact with the COVID-19 cases. As a precaution, more than 30 community members are being tested, including children, Elders and staff. These individuals are also in isolation until test results are confirmed.
Beginning immediately, Musqueam has taken these steps to protect the community:
- Band administration office is closed.
- Community centre and all recreation programming is closed.
- The Children’s House (preschool and childcare) is closed.
- Recommend community members refrain from non-essential travel.
These precautions are in place until we are certain it is safe to reopen.
