Groceries available for all Musqueam members | COVID-19 support

November 17, 2020

Groceries delivered and gift cards available to all Musqueam households

In British Columbia and across the country, COVID-19 cases are at an all-time high. On Monday, BC reported 1,959 new confirmed cases (over a three-day period) and today report an additional 717. Public health orders are currently in place to limit social interactions to your immediate household.

To support all Musqueam members during the second wave of COVID-19, administration is distributing food and grocery store gift cards to Musqueam households. Read below for more details.

Grocery and food distribution to Musqueam Reserve households

This week, there will be two grocery deliveries to the 250 Musqueam Reserve households:

    • Today, a variety of frozen meat from Meridian Meats and Seafood was delivered, including ground beef, cod loin and pork chops.
    • A package of essential groceries will be delivered later this week (hopefully Thursday).

Grocery store gift cards for Musqueam households off reserve

Musqueam households located away from home (off reserve) can request a $100 gift card for a local grocery store.  Email [email protected] with your name and mailing address.

    • Include your preferred grocery store between Save-On Foods and President’s Choice ( which includes stores like Loblaws, City Market, Superstore, Extra Foods, No Frills, Valu-Mart and more).
    • president's choice gift cardsIf these grocery stores are not in your area, please include which grocery stores are closest to you, and we will send you a gift card to an accessible store.

Gift cards are limited to one per Musqueam household, meaning anyone living at the same address.

Ongoing COVID-19 support

During COVID-19, grocery deliveries occur when administration secures funds or donations to distribute to on-reserve households.

A reminder to all members, but especially members living away from home: support from Musqueam Administration is always available during this pandemic. Please email [email protected] or call the COVID-19 phoneline at 604-269-3444 to enquire about available resources, including essential supplies and financial resources.
