The proposed multi-family housing project could create about 74 new affordable rental homes for up to 200 Musqueam members and their families. This is one of the first multi-family housing projects on-reserve that will receive funding from BC Housing. This project presents us with a historic opportunity to welcome home Musqueam members who have been separated from our community for far too long. It’s also a chance for us to address the significant overcrowding for some families currently living on and off-reserve.
This is the first major project MIB is developing under the 2014 Land Use Plan and new Land Code. We are currently in the project initiation and pre-planning stages – investigating options that would maximize land use and funding available, while mitigating impacts. Over the coming months, we will be sharing info with community, and soliciting feedback in a variety of ways. This information will be compiled and presented to Council to inform their decisions regarding next steps.
Information about this project will be uploaded here, as it becomes available.
For an overview of the project please take a look at the Multi-family information package that was sent to all member households.
