Remembering Barbara Morrison (Campbell)

August 26, 2020

Barbara Teresa Morrison

October 1, 1950 – August 24, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that Musqueam announces the passing of a community member, Barbara Morrison, née Campbell.

Family will be gathering outside, under the white tents next to the Cultural Centre, on Wednesday August 26 and Thursday August 27 from 10am – 7pm. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, 30 people is the maximum number able to gather in this space at once.

MIB Council and Admin acknowledge that this is not ideal, nor is it consistent with the traditional ways we come together to remember loved ones. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the ways we gather. We are doing our best to ensure members can still uphold cultural practices while maintaining everyone’s safety.

As a community, we need to protect each other from COVID-19.

If you visit the family, please remember:

  • Pay attention to how many people are gathered at the tent. Come back later if there is already 30 people.
  • Masks are mandatory and will be provided if you don’t have your own.
  • Maintain 6-10 feet of physical distance from people outside of your bubble. This also means refraining from hugging people as much as possible.
  • Wash your hands before you enter and after you exit

Please be advised that only people directly contacted by the funeral coordinator will be able to attend the service in person. Limiting the number of attendees at the service is an extremely difficult but necessary decision to keep people safe. Although many family and friends will not be able to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available to everyone.

Procession

In effort to create an opportunity for the Musqueam Community to partake in the services for our loved one, there will be a procession after the conclusion of the Celebration of Life. The family invites friends and family to join in this final farewell by lining up at designated spots along the procession route.

The procession will leave the Musqueam Community Center at approximately 10:00am.

  • Travel north along Salish Drive
  • Turning right on Thellaiwhaltun
  • Quick left onto Crown Street
  • Left on Stautlo Avenue
  • Left back onto Salish Drive
  • Right onto Musqueam Drive to the Cemetery for a burial

Due to COVID safety guidelines, please say your farewell from the curbside. We ask that everyone practice physical distancing and ensure the safety of the family in mourning. We understand how difficult this is for community, but we must remain diligent.

Handshakes

If you would like to offer the family a handshake or returns, this can be done during the processions. The usher will follow behind the procession and collect envelopes along the route. Please include on envelope: name, where money will go to, e.g. headstone, or family etc.

Handshakes to the family are also accepted via e-transfer: [email protected]
Please provide details of your handshake or return in the notes section of the e-transfer.

With the greatest of love and respect,
the Morrison/Campbell Family
