Public and private schools still open | Musqueam Education Notice

January 8, 2021

All BC schools still open, attendance in-person still optional

Yesterday, Musqueam announced confirmed COVID-19 cases in one household located on Musqueam Reserve. Contact tracing is ongoing and the community is following the provincial health officer’s orders while the Musqueam COVID-19 Emergency Response Team is supporting the household and working to keep the community safe and healthy.

At this time, Dr. Bonnie Henry, BC’s provincial health officer, has not issued any restrictions on school attendance. Unless you are instructed to isolate by public health, children can continue to attend their school. For more information on school safety you can visit the BC Centre for Disease Control website.

The Musqueam School Bus will continue to operate and transport students to and from Southlands Elementary and Immaculate Conception School.  The school bus will still ask students to wear masks and the bus will continue to be sanitized on a regular basis.

As Dr. Henry says, be kind, be calm and be safe!

covid-19 restrictions and public health orders are extended in BC until February 5
