On August 5th, Musqueam administration presented the budget for fiscal year 2020-2021 to membership. The result of the Musqueam budget vote was 54-6 in favour of passing the budget. There were no spoiled ballots.
This meeting was postponed in the spring until the COVID-19 Task Force determined the safest way to host community meetings. Two information sessions and the Community Meeting were hosted as hybrid online Zoom webinars with limited in-person attendance. Voting was done online using OneFeather, a First Nations electronic voting system.
Hosting online meetings is a first for Musqueam, and the format worked well. We are excited to continue using the mix of online and in-person for future community engagement during COVID-19 and beyond.
