ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl (Come Toward the Fire)

As part of our collaboration with the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, we are hosting a community-to-community dinner to welcome the visiting artists performing at the ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl (Come Toward the Fire) festival.

Dinner served at the cultural centre on Friday, September 16, the night before the festival kicks off to the public.

This will be an opportunity for Musqueam community members, visiting Indigenous artists, Chan Centre and UBC guests to meet, share a meal, and visit.

Arrival at 5:30pm. Dinner at 6pm, catered by Salishan Catering.

This event is FREE for Musqueam community members!
No registration required.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, in collaboration with Musqueam, are thrilled to announce the new, inaugural festival, ʔəm̓i ce:p xʷiwəl (Come Toward the Fire).

Held on September 17 – 18, 2022, the festival is an Indigenous-led celebration of creativity, culture and community. The gathering will showcase the voices of Indigenous artists, performers, musicians, speakers, and dance groups from Musqueam and from Indigenous nations across Turtle Island (North America) and includes free, outdoor programming on September 17 and a ticketed concert in the evening that is free to Indigenous peoples. September 18 concludes the festival with the legendary icon Buffy Sainte-Marie performing in the Chan.
