Elders discussion: Musqueam Village Plan (Part 2)

December 6, 2023 @ 12:00 pm 2:00 pm

The team working on the Musqueam Village Plan (formerly MIB Master Plan) invites Elders to the second engagement session to learn about the draft plan.

This is a follow up discussion to the session held on November 22.

This lunch discussion is facilitated by Paige Parent, Senior Development Manager at MCC, and Tecla Van Bussel, Musqueam’s Community Planner.

The Musqueam Village Plan will be the physical vision and framework of what Musqueam Reserve 2 will look like in the future. It is based on the community vision and objectives identified in Musqueam’s existing Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) and Land Use Plan (LUP). The Musqueam Village Plan will be grounded in the Musqueam Land Code, and follow the development processes laid out by the Land Code.

Over the past two years, the project team has listened, learned and engaged with Musqueam community members. These efforts have produced important guidance for how the Musqueam Village Plan can best serve the Musqueam community and steer future developments towards sustainability and community benefits.

The project team has now completed the first draft of the Musqueam Village Plan and would like to share the draft with Musqueam Elders for your feedback.

The draft Musqueam Village Plan includes a concept plan for development of IR2 and a document outlining guidelines for cultural and environmental protection, land use, architecture, design, and infrastructure like transportation, water and sewer services, and energy.
