Musqueam 101: Where the power is

November 24, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

MUSQUEAM 101 – Wednesday, November 24, 2021

Where The Power Is

“When we have our robes, we say that our ancestors are with us. These blankets, they’re powerful because they went through a lot of ceremonies and a lot of dances, a lot of potlatches, a lot of history. … All the old blankets and regalia have a memory of these things. That’s where the power is – you feel it. You go to the museums and you open those drawers and you can feel it.” Dempsey Bob (Tahltan/Tlingit)

Join us for the Musqueam book launch of Where the Power Is co-authored by Jordan Wilson, Karen Duffek (MOA) and the late Bill McLennan. Over 80 Indigenous artists and knowledge keepers including Musqueam community members speak throughout the pages of this beautifully illustrated book about cultural belongings. Jordan and Karen will introduce the book and talk about the process of its creation.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase. Regularly $65 they will be available this evening for $40.
