To help protect our people, our lands, our waters, and the places that have cared for our ancestors and will continue to care for future generations, a fire ban is now in effect until further notice.
Current weather conditions have created an increased risk of wildfire. Out of an abundance of caution, all open burning is prohibited during this time. This includes campfires, backyard burning, and any other outdoor fires unless expressly authorized.
Our connection to the land carries with it a shared responsibility to care for and protect it. By respecting this fire ban, we’re helping to safeguard our homes, our community, our cultural places, and the natural environment that sustains us all, as well as protecting against wildfires.
We ask everyone to support this collective effort by:
- Refraining from lighting any open fires.
- Properly extinguishing and disposing of cigarettes and smoking materials.
- Avoiding activities that could create sparks or ignite dry vegetation.
- Reporting any signs of smoke or fire immediately to emergency services or the appropriate community contact.
