With the help of United Way, planning for Musqueam Recreation‘s annual summer program began early and is looking better than ever! We are already busy planning workshops and activities to get ready for a fun, creative and educational summer with your kids.
This page will be updated throughout the summer. Check back regularly for current updates.
School’s Out: Kids’ Summer Program
The School’s Out: Kids’ Summer Program is eight weeks of FREE activities for Musqueam children aged 5-12.
This year, we are working with three Musqueam educators to offer more Musqueam-focused and educational programming. Kym Stogan, Megan Harkey and Nora Stogan will join Musqueam Recreation to delve into different themes every week, including hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, outer space, land-based learning and food harvesting.
Programming starts July 10 and runs until August 30, 2023.
Program Registration
On Thursday, June 8, visit Musqueam Recreation staff in the lobby of the community centre between 9am and 5pm to learn about the summer program and register your child(ren).
Not able to make it on June 8? Email Courtenay Gibson, Recreation Manager, [email protected] or call Musqueam Reception (604-263-3261) and ask to be transferred to Courtenay.
Pre-Summer Parent Meetings
As part of our summer planning, Musqueam Rec is meeting with parents in June to chat about your child(ren) ahead of the summer program. This will help the recreation team be more familiar with your child’s individual needs.
This meeting is not required for your child to attend the summer program, but it will ensure the summer program is the best experience possible for them.
Examples of needs or requirements that can be flagged for recreation staff:
- Medications
- Eating habits
- Dietary restrictions
- Diabetes management
- ADHD or executive functioning management
- Social coping mechanisms
To schedule your one-on-one meeting with Courtenay Gibson, Recreation Manager, email [email protected] or call Musqueam Reception (604-263-3261) and ask to be transferred to Courtenay.
Meetings will be scheduled throughout June.
