Congratulations to Musqueam artist Gracielene Ulu on the unveiling of a public art piece with TransLink titled “Leaping Into Change”.
The artwork is one of seven designs installed on concrete columns under TransLink’s Expo Line in New Westminster. The columns are next to a part of the new BC Parkway pedestrian and cyclist pathway on Stewardson Way between 5th Ave. and 14th St. All designs were created by Indigenous artists and use the theme of connection to land, water and community.
Gracie’s piece depicts the frog spirit in the bustling heart of our city, where the SkyTrain glides gracefully along its tracks and leaps between stations. The SkyTrain creates an exhilarating atmosphere and enables connection and belonging for riders of all ages.
