It is hunting season, and as we practice our inherent right to hunt for food please remember to be respectful of our territories, teachings, and community.
Last week, a deer or elk carcass was thrown away at the Musqueam foreshore, in an area that is dangerous for our residents and for removal.
In addition, a fish tote full of crab bait was discarded in the same area.
The carcass and tote are not only unsightly and smell awful, but abandoning an animal carcass is contrary to Musqueam cultural values and teachings.
Musqueam Administration tries to keep the foreshore clean for community members to enjoy safely. Cleaning up the carcass and fish tote is not easy, and costs administration money and time to dispose of safely.
Please, be mindful of everyone who uses the beach area and dispose of your waste responsibly.
