Notices from Musqueam Fisheries, Security, and Public Works
Attention: Crab harvesters and others mariners using Musqueam Beach
Boat Ramp closed for road grading
The boat ramp at Musqueam Beach (Musqueam IR #2) will be CLOSED and/or have limited access for one day during the week of May 6th.
Depending on weather, City of Vancouver crews will be working one of the days to smooth out the road leading to the river.
Update: Work was completed on Monday, May 6.
Reminders when using the beach
The beach, foreshore and adjacent field is a shared community area.
As we enter fishing season and practice our inherent right to harvest seafood, residents are reminded to be mindful of other community members who visit the beach.
Recently, fish boxes/totes with products kept in unsanitary conditions have been temporarily and permanently abandoned on our shores.
Musqueam Administration tries to keep the foreshore clean for community members to enjoy safely. Cleaning up fish totes and other large items is not easy, and it costs administration money and time to dispose of safely.
We are welcoming visitors from many communities to Musqueam in the coming weeks. We need everyone’s assistance in keeping the area clean, tidy and respectable in a good way.
This includes ensuring there is adequate space for everyone to access the boat ramp, as well as keeping the area clean and hygienic.
Please remember to be respectful of our territories, teachings, and community. Dispose of your waste responsibly.
