Preliminary Council Nominations
Notice is hereby given that a meeting of eligible electors of Musqueam Indian Band was held at the Musqueam Community Centre Gym on October 24, 2024, beginning at 5:00pm and ending at 8:00pm, for the purpose of nominating candidates for the positions of ONE (1) Chief and TEN (10) Councillors, for the ensuing term of office.

The listed nominees have been duly nominated for the offices of Chief and Council of Musqueam Indian Band in accordance with the First Nations Elections Act. There are 5 people nominated for Office of Chief, and 51 nominated for Office of Councillor.
This is a preliminary list of nominees and subject to change. Nominees MUST submit an acceptance form by Sunday, October 27 at 6pm to become an official candidate.

Accepting a nomination
To become a candidate, a nominee must submit to the Electoral Officer or Deputy Electoral Officer, by 6:00 PM on October 27, 2024, a signed Candidate Acceptance & Declaration Form to:
- accept the nomination for no more than ONE of the positions for which they have been nominated; and
- attest to their eligibility to be a candidate under the Act.
Each nominee should review the Candidate Nomination Package, which includes the candidate acceptance form.

Chief & Councillor Election
November 29, 2024

Musqueam Indian Band has called an election in accordance with the First Nations Elections Act for the purpose of electing one Chief and ten Councillors on Friday, November 29, 2024 for the next four-year term of office.
Mail-In Voting
To vote by mail, electors MUST submit a Mail-In Ballot Request form and copy of ID to the Electoral Officer at OneFeather. A mail-in ballot will NOT automatically be sent to you.
Every band member living away from home (off reserve) should have received mail from OneFeather that includes the Request for Mail-In Ballot form, along with the Notice of Nomination Meeting. If you did not receive this mail, please contact OneFeather ASAP.
Electors are responsible for requesting their mail-in ballot in a timely manner so it can be received, completed, sent back, and received by OneFeather before November 29.

Nominee requirements
In accordance with the First Nations Elections Act, there are provisions that MUST be satisfied in order for a nomination, and candidate eligibility is to be approved by the Electoral Officer.
Musqueam Members 18 years and older as of November 29, 2024 (“electors”) can:
- vote in this election
- be added to the Voters List
- nominate and/or be nominated for Chief or Councillor
Electors are reminded that the requirements for nominations and qualifications of candidates are provided for in Section 9 of the First Nations Elections Act. Please review this section if you intend to run for office.
Voting information
The election is November 29, 2024. The polling station will be open from 9am to 8pm in the Community Centre Gym for in person voting.
Any elector may vote by mail-in ballot by submitting a Request for Mail-in Ballot form, along with a copy of identification, to the Electoral Officer prior to November 23, 2024.
The elector is responsible for requesting their mail-in ballot in a timely manner to ensure that they can receive it, complete it, and send it back to the Electoral Officer in time to be received before November 29.
A copy of the voters list is available in the lobby of the the administration office and is available on OneFeather’s website. Questions about the voters list can be directed to the Electoral Officer.
